Two of Utica's finest unite for a killer split. The Fig Mints (ex-Comfy) deliver 5 tracks of 90s-style indie/alternative, channeling the likes of Guided By Voices, Pavement, and Sebadoh. Bobby Rogan is clearly working through some things, attempting to make sense of moving through the world, finding purpose and the frustration and depression that abound along the journey. Oh, and girls too. The Real Burnouts (also ex-Comfy, Wiener Records) bring 5 tracks of synthy psych pop sure to please fans of Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, etc. Paul Crowther is a legend in the Utica scene, transcending his perfect weirdo tripped-out pop as a performing phenomenon (he once faked an overdose only to return from the dead to astound audiences and once performed in handcuffs and a prison jumpsuit). The two long-time friends may not sound the same, but they know how to balance each other out.
