Green Dreams' new EP Go Back To The Horse is a followup to their Meredith Graves-produced LP Here At Castle Makeout - "an unwieldy piece of noise-punk that’s informed by both pop and hardcore, which is elevated by the sheer strength of Green Dreams’ convictions." (Heartbreaking Bravery).
Green Dreams traffic in righteously furious political punk rock, a queer, feminist fist in the face of the US's increasingly right wing political climate, but they also have a penchant for the type of stoned conspiracies that would make Fox Mulder's head spin. Led by singer and guitarist Jesse Amesmith, the band can switch from high speed, blasted out punk to more hook-friendly alt-pop on a dime. As Noisey put it, "Not only is their message kick-ass, but their music provides a foundation for it that’s caked in resin and absolutely wonderful Hole-worship."
From the slow burning alt-pop of EP opener "Bird Arms" - to the high speed, psychedelic punk of "Cole" (video here), Green Dreams tackle everything from Riverdale to Diane Linkletter (the inspiration for "Diane") with their trademark flare and grit.
PRESS
"...the follow up to 2016’s Here At Castle Makeout is refined ever so slightly, still raging with feedback and agitation, but the melodies shimmer just a bit brighter." - Post-Trash
"...although the band doesn’t sacrifice their sharpness, the songs take longer chomps rather than quick, aggressive bites to leave their marks." - The Alternative
"Disguised as a messy, grunge-laden rocker, “Bird Arms” is an undeniably catchy and cohesive pop song, worth putting on repeat." - CITY Newspaper
